The Living Conditions of Applicants and Beneficiaries of International Protection
Evidence of Greece’s Failure to Provide Sustainable Accommodation Solutions
FEBRUARY 2021
“Homeless persons are “those who do not have any or have precarious access to accommodation with basic technical standards, as well as running water and electricity””
— Article 29 of Greek Law 4052/2012
Mobile Info Team has had a constant presence for 5 years in Northern Greece, providing information about the asylum procedure and access to services. Our accessibility to asylum seekers, beneficiaries of international protection, and people on the move in general, in different locations in Greece, grants us a comprehensive view on the situation regarding access to accommodation, services and the impact of newly adopted policies. Mobile Info Team aims to draw attention to the precariousness people live in and the insufficient measures on integration, emphasizing that Greece remains unsafe and undignified regarding living conditions.
Mobile Info Team is releasing its report on accommodation for asylum seekers and beneficiaries of international protection in Greece. Building up on our reporting from 2018, when we collected statements from inhabitants of the "Abandoned Building", the report attempts to shine light upon the perpetual precarity people on the move are exposed to, due to inadequate policies.
